Silodosin Capsule

Silodosin is used to correct urination in men with benign prostatic hyperplasia and to relieve symptoms during urination like hesitancy, incomplete emptying, weak stream, increased urgency and frequency, and increased urination at night. Silodosin is an alpha-blocker. It helps to relax the muscles around the bladder exit and prostate gland so urine is passed more easily. This medicine helps to relax the muscles in the prostate gland and the opening to the bladder. This may help increase the flow of urine and decrease the symptoms.

You are advised to take silodosin for as long as your doctor has prescribed it for you, depending on your medical condition. In some cases, this medicine may cause common side effects such as ejaculation disorders, dizziness, diarrhea, stuffy nose, and sudden lowering in blood pressure leading to dizziness on standing. Most of these side effects do not need medical attention, and they will resolve over time.

Precautions

Do not take silodosin if you are allergic to this drug, any alpha-blockers, or any of the components in silodosin. Inform your doctor if you have a problem of low blood pressure, or liver or kidney disease. Talk to your doctor before taking this medicine if you are undergoing eye surgery as cases of intraoperative floppy iris syndrome have been found in some cases. This medicine is specially for use in men only; women should not take this medicine, especially pregnant or breastfeeding women. This medicine should not be given to children as safety and efficacy have not been established. This medicine may cause sleepiness, so drive or operate any machinery when only if you are alert. Avoid the consumption of alcohol along with this medicine as it could lead to increased dizziness.
